The Devil (Dog) Is In The Details

The return of Drake's Cakes (from bankruptcy) coincides with their 125th anniversary!

Lucky for all the fans of Devil Dogs (that's me), Ring Dings, Yodels and their famous Coffee Cakes, which became a part of pop culture after appearing on this Seinfeld episode:

Newman swears 'on his Mother's life' for a Drake's Coffee Cake (full size, no less)

Also, the new owners of Hostess have improved upon their recipes by changing to dark cocoa. After all these years of Hostess striving to be like Drake's (now owned by the makers of Little Debbie), maybe Drake's should follow Hostess for once...

*Based on their site, it appears that Drake's Cakes are not offering Yankee Doodles...yet!

O, Be Some Other Name...

What's in a name? Tales of Us, the latest release by Goldfrapp, projects like a film score, introducing ten characters, notably "Drew"..

The soaring compositions by Will Gregory embrace the ethereal voice of Alison Goldfrapp, reminiscent of the beauty revealed on their first album, Felt Mountain (Mute)

Whatever You Do, Don't Blink!

Highlighting the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, the regeneration of the latest (12th) Doctor will occur December, 25th on BBC!

The Tenth Doctor describes time as "wibbly wobbly, timey wimey...stuff"

Neil deGrasse Tyson of NOVA explains that between Ray Bradbury, Star Trek and Dr. Who, the Doctor came the closest to describing time.

Our Sun (by astrophotographer Alan Friedman)

Two Earth Suns, we'll get back to that, first wrap your head around 300 Sextillion stars! That's 3x more stars in the universe than was previously projected, "and many, many planets that could support life."

Meanwhile back in our galaxy, global solar storms erupted across the Sun. This "Great Eruption" consisted of 'over a dozen shock waves, flares, filament eruptions, and coronal mass ejections that covered half of the sun's surface' in just over 24 hours.

...and the two Suns I mentioned, Betelgeuse (the second biggest star in the universe), is "running out of fuel in its centre" and before collapsing upon itself a giant explosion will occur, tens of millions of times brighter than the sun. 'One day, night will become day for several weeks on Earth...we’ll have incredible brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade.' says Dr Brad Carter, Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Southern Queensland.

Here's a realistic view of a passing comet while you're traveling on the mothership towards the Edge of the Universe (after taking Stephen Hawking's advice to abandon Earth).
