The European Space Agency and NASA have set their sights far beyond Earth. In November the ESA successfully deployed the Philae lander on a comet and discovered organic molecules prior to shutting down into standby mode due to a loss of solar power. More recently, NASA completed it's first test flight of Orion, the spacecraft is designed for a potential manned mission to Mars.
